Ironsmith

Airtight wood stove was designed for Wolfedale Engineering Inc. utilizing their deep-drawing and steel forming capabilities. It is easy to produce and high on thermal efficiency. In addition to CSA approval the product received UL approval in the United States and TUV approval in Germany. Design feature, it is light enough to be handled by two adults and because it is a KD (knocked down) nearly twice as many could be loaded for shipping in the same place over conventional box stoves. The Ironsmith Design is an Award winner and US Design Patent No. 270,755.

Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner

Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner was designed for BEAM of Canada Ltd. and it is powered by direct hook-up to their central vacuum system. Design feature: the form follows function as it is developed to enhance wet or dry flow in the opposite direction to air suction in the reservoir which is shaped to enhance stability too. The reservoir is injection molded in two pieces then ultrasonically welded. Color scheme suggests efficiency and user-friendly appearance. Prototype model is made in-house.

Alloy Wheels

Cast Aluminum wheel concept was designed for Volkswagen Canada Ltd. is to maximize pressure casting manufacturing capability of a fully automated plant. The part is designed for good material distribution, for optimum balance and symmetry criteria as well as for easy machining or paint finish options. Renderings are made in-house.

Interior Car Warmers

A common heater + fan module was designed for two different looking housings for Pyroil Canada Ltd. The products are targeted for use in the cold climatic areas of the USA and Canada to encourage customers to preheat their vehicles with a clean energy source (120 V AC power in 500W or 900W output).
Design features include the use of flame-retardant plastic, assembly without mechanical fasteners, simple geometric forms with non-reflective surface and color scheme to compliment most automotive interior. The Design is an Award winner and US Design Patent No. 322665 and No.322666.

Cord Caddy I

A 7 meter long outdoor extension cord can be stored in the case designed for NOMA Inc. to be used around the home or garage. Design features include injection molded plastic Housing and Reel one side only to reduce mold costs. The molded-in receptacle has two waterproof power outlets. This first of a kind product in Canada received CSA and UL approval and a Design Patent. The Design is an Award winner and US Design Patent No. 257,576.

Cord Caddy II / Cord Caddy III

The commercial success of the award winning Cord Caddy I. for NOMA Inc. inspired the design of second generation cord reels for indoor/outdoor usage. Design features include four patented waterproof electric receptacle, structural foam molded parts and extended lengths of extension cords. US Design Patent No. 286,503.

Male-Female Plug for extension cords

One of the most recognized type in Canada was designed for NOMA Inc. to be used on three wired cords attached to power tools, extension cords, appliances. Design features include molded encasement around live wire-prongs shaped ergonomically to enhance hand/finger grip, safe handling and visual impact of "togetherness". Nationwide over 50 million units are in use today coast to coast.

Grey Scale Fax machine

The design challenge was to create a brand image around a 64 shade, photographic quality, grey scale facsimile, a patented process. The market for the product was identified to be the emerging world’s business community not targeted by big, international brand names. Design features include mechanical components design, injection molded plastic parts, assembly and product Identity. A number of working prototypes were completed in-house.

The product was designed for Hewlett-Packard Canada Ltd. as a Canadian manufactured system component to be integrated with HP worldwide product mandate. Design features include injection molded plastic case, tactile keypad integration and HP worldwide color standard application.

Case goods + Task chair + Workstation

The products were designed for a Correctional Services of Canada (CORCAN) program and to be manufactured by inmates. The purpose of the program was to assist inmates to learn trade and manufacturing skills which can help their re-integration into civilian life. Design features include low-tech material and fabrication techniques such as woodworkings, metal welding, powder coating, plywood forming, fabrics use. Exhibited in 15th BIENNALE OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN 1996 in Slovenia and sanctioned by ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) representing Canada in the European circuit.

The heater products were designed for Pyroil Canada Ltd. and manufactured off-shore. Protective packaging was needed for major Canadian retail chains. Design features include thermoformed, transparent plastic clam-shell case, unisex type for the two differently shaped products. Product ID is printed on drop-in paperboard for easy removal and re-cycling.
